Terms and Conditions
Paper Plus Rewards is a loyalty program designed to reward customers with exclusive benefits, including the ability to earn Paper Plus Rewards Points on qualifying purchases and convert Paper Plus Reward Points into $5 Rewards as well as granting access to exclusive Paper Plus Rewards offers, promotions and competitions.
These are the terms and conditions ("Terms") upon which a person or business can be a member of Paper Plus Rewards. Registration for membership in Paper Plus Rewards is deemed acceptance of these Terms.
'Paper Plus' refers to the Paper Plus Group. Customers can find Paper Plus contact information online at paperplus.co.nz ('website') or reach us by telephone on 0800 PAPER PLUS (0800 727 377)
‘Paper Plus Rewards’ means the Paper Plus loyalty programme.
'Member' means a person with an individual Paper Plus Rewards account.
'Business' means a company or sole trader with a Paper Plus Debtor Account.
'Membership' means an individual Paper Plus Rewards account.
'Member Terms and Conditions' means these Terms and Conditions for Paper Plus Rewards Membership.
'Points' means tokens collected through shopping with Paper Plus or any type of currency that Paper Plus offers within the Paper Plus Rewards programme.
'Promotions' means any offers, promotions or benefits, including discount or points-based events in-store or online, and competitions.
'Technical Issues' means the technical malfunction of any telephone network, connection or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website or intranet site.
'Reward' means a $5 voucher, held electronically on your Membership, which is earned through the accumulation of Points.
'Website' means paperplus.co.nz
Joining Paper Plus Rewards
1. To be a Paper Plus Rewards member you need to be aged 16 or older.
2. Applications for Membership may be completed in-store at Paper Plus or on the Paper Plus Website, or via a Self Sign-up email or SMS link provided by Paper Plus. Failure to provide any information designated as mandatory will mean you will be ineligible for Membership. All information provided must be true and correct. It is your responsibility to always keep your details up to date by making changes through the Website, or by advising a staff member in-store.
3. Memberships without an associated valid email address and/or mobile number may not be eligible for the full benefits of Paper Plus Rewards. It is your responsibility to keep the recorded email address and/or mobile number on record up to date.
4. Applications for Membership are only available to New Zealand residents. Only one membership is permitted per individual or Business. Paper Plus reserves the right to accept or reject any application for Membership and shall not be required to provide any reason for such acceptance or rejection.
5. Paper Plus Rewards is not a credit card or debtor account.
How it works
6. The Paper Plus Rewards program replaces any previous Paper Plus loyalty or other rewards scheme.
7. Physical loyalty cards issued under previous Paper Plus loyalty programs will continue to function, however, these cannot be replaced if lost or damaged.
8. Paper Plus Rewards is free to join for all eligible customers who wish to participate and purchase product in any Paper Plus store or online at paperplus.co.nz subject to clause 22.
9. You should identify yourself in-store as a Paper Plus Rewards Member when purchasing or sign-in to the Website when shopping online at Paper Plus for all purchases. This is to enable Paper Plus to provide you with the full benefits of the Paper Plus Rewards programme.
10. x1 Paper Plus Reward Point is earned for every $1 spent in any Paper Plus store or online at paperplus.co.nz
11. You will receive a $5 Reward for every 100 Paper Plus Rewards Points you collect.
12. Paper Plus Rewards are valid for 3 months from the date of being earned and will expire after 3 months if not used.
13. Paper Plus Rewards Points and $5 Rewards are stored electronically on a Member's individual account.
14. During specific promotional periods, Paper Plus Rewards will have exclusive offers including discounts, special pricing and Instant Rewards to available to Paper Plus Rewards Members, to receive such benefits members must identify themselves at the time of purchase as highlighted in clause 9
15. Paper Plus Rewards memberships will be marked for closure after 2 years/24 months of continuous inactivity. In the event that your Membership is revoked, all accrued Points and Rewards will expire from the date of revocation. A customer will need to reapply for a new membership should they wish to re-join and begin earning Paper Plus Rewards Points.
16. To keep your membership active: utilise your Paper Plus Rewards membership each time you purchase from a Paper Plus store or via the Paper Plus website.
17. Paper Plus may, at any time, require you to provide proof of identification (in a form requested by Paper Plus) for Paper Plus to verify the authenticity of your membership and compliance with the Terms and Conditions. Failure to provide proof of identification may result in termination of your involvement in the Paper Plus Rewards programme
18. If you return a product in accordance with the Paper Plus Returns Policy, or cancel an order for a product on which you have earned Points, the Points will be deducted from your Points balance
19. If product(s) is returned where a Paper Plus Reward was used as part of the payment tender, the amount refunded or credited to the customer will be minus the value of the Paper Plus Reward(s) redeemed at the time of purchase.
Earning Rewards Points
20. To earn Paper Plus Rewards Points on eligible purchases in-store, Members must identify themselves as a Paper Plus Rewards Member by quoting the phone number associated with their Paper Plus Rewards membership.
21. To earn Paper Plus Rewards Points online via Paperplus.co.nz transactions, Paper Plus Rewards Members must log into the website before completing their transaction.
22. For Paper Plus purchases, in-store or online, Paper Plus Rewards Points are awarded/allocated as follows:
- Collect 1 Point for every $1 you spend on Books, Stationery, Art & Craft, Toys, Games & Puzzles, Giftware, Greeting Cards, Gift Wrap and Magazines.
- Points are not earned on Kiwibank products, Lotto products, NZ Post Products & Services, account payments, selected technology items, bill payments, purchasing Gift Cards, prepaid postal items, stamps, phone cards, newspapers, photographic services, prescriptions, repairs, reimbursements, charitable donations or products, services or fees associated with an independent agency represented in-store or online by Paper Plus and such other products as may be notified by Paper Plus to the Members from time to time.
23. The amount of spend required per Point and the products on which Points can be earned may vary from time to time. You should refer to the Website or check with a staff member for an up-to-date list of qualifying products and the level of spend required per point.
24. Points do not have any value and cannot be redeemed for cash, gift cards or any Paper Plus products and services except as expressly set out in these Terms and Conditions.
25. Paper Plus Rewards Points are stored electronically on a Member's individual account.
Paper Plus Rewards Vouchers
26. Rewards are only credited to your membership in denominations of $5 and can only be redeemed in full $5 increments. No change or credit will be given.
27. When a Reward is redeemed, Points will not be earned on the value of the Reward redeemed.
To redeem your Reward, you must:
- Comply with the specific requirement(s) of the Reward(s) as notified on, or in relation to the Reward itself.
- Purchase Paper Plus products in a category in which your Reward may be redeemed in a single transaction,
- The purchase price of which is greater than, or equal to, the value of the Reward(s) you are redeeming.
- Where the purchase price in a single transaction is less than the value of a Reward you wish to redeem you will be unable to redeem your Reward.
28. To the extent that the purchase price exceeds the value of a Reward(s) on your Membership, you must pay the difference.
29. Points and Rewards Vouchers cannot be sold and cannot be transferred to another person unless expressly permitted by Paper Plus.
30. Paper Plus Rewards cannot be redeemed on:
- Kiwibank products, Lotto products
- NZ Post Products & Services including prepaid postal items, and stamps.
- When making account and bill payments, services or fees associated with an independent agency represented in-store or online by Paper Plus
- Selected technology items including phone cards
- When purchasing gift cards, newspapers, photographic services, prescriptions, repairs, reimbursements, and charitable donations or products.
31. The categories in which Rewards(s) may be redeemed may vary from time to time. You should refer to the Website for an up-to-date list of categories in which you can redeem Rewards(s).
32. Rewards(s) can only be redeemed at Paper Plus stores, or online at Paperplus.co.nz.
33. You can redeem Rewards by identifying yourself as a Paper Plus Rewards member at any Paper Plus store or by signing in to your account online at Paperplus.co.nz. Paper Plus reserves the right to require identification when redeeming Rewards
34. To earn Paper Plus Rewards as part of specific instant reward promotions on eligible purchases, Members must identify themselves as a Paper Plus Rewards Member by quoting the phone number associated with their Paper Plus Rewards membership or be signed into the website at the time of purchase.
Paper Plus Rewards Communications
35. Where an email address is provided it will be used to email you when you reach a Reward, have a Reward expiring, or when you are eligible for exclusive gifts or monthly prize draws as well as any Paper Plus Rewards news or updates.
36. From time to time, Paper Plus may provide Members with Promotions in connection with Paper Plus Rewards. These Terms and Conditions shall apply to such Promotions, in addition to any specific Terms and Conditions accompanying such Promotions. In the event of any inconsistency, the specific Terms and Conditions of the Promotion shall apply.
37. If you unsubscribe from marketing messages, you will still receive emails from us about Paper Plus orders, when you earn a Reward and when you have a Reward expiring, Paper Plus Rewards updates or other information about your Paper Plus Rewards membership.
General
38. The Member Terms and Conditions document the operation of Paper Plus Rewards, the use of Membership, any promotional activity and member transactions that arise as a consequence of the Paper Plus Rewards programme.
39. By joining the Paper Plus Rewards programme, you agree to be bound by these Member Terms and Conditions.
40. Paper Plus will provide reasonable notice to Members of any change to the Member Terms and Conditions that will reduce the rate at which Points are collected, increase the number of Points required to earn a Reward, or reduce the value of a Reward. Outside of those circumstances, the Member Terms and Conditions may be modified by Paper Plus from time to time without prior notification. It is recommended that you check these Terms and Conditions periodically. The continued use of your Paper Plus Rewards Membership after the effective date of change will constitute your acceptance of the revised Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to changes, you may cancel your account by contacting us.
41. Participation in Paper Plus Rewards by a Paper Plus Business Account holder is at the sole discretion of the Paper Plus store owner where the Business Account is held.
42. Paper Plus will not accept any liability for any email that is misdirected, lost or not received.
43. Paper Plus (including its officers, employees, affiliates and agents) excludes all liability to the fullest extent permitted by law for loss or damage (other than where the loss or damage is due to Paper Plus’s negligence or wilful default); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of Paper Plus Rewards or any Membership, including but not limited to (a) any technical difficulties, network failures, virus or equipment malfunction; (b) any loss, theft, unauthorised access or third party interference with Points, Rewards, or Membership information; (c) any Points or Rewards that are not properly recorded against an individual’s Membership; (d) participation in, or termination of Paper Plus Rewards; (e) Force Majeure.
44. Paper Plus reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Paper Plus Rewards programme at any time and without notice for fraudulent use of membership, unlawful or improper conduct, abuse of the Paper Plus Rewards membership, non-compliance with these Terms and Conditions or on other reasonable grounds. In the event that your Membership is revoked, all accrued Points and Rewards will expire from the date of revocation, and you will have no further entitlement in respect of Paper Plus Rewards.
45. Paper Plus will not be liable for any tax liability incurred by you in connection with the Paper Plus Rewards programme, including that incurred in the provision and/or utilisation of rewards.
46. These Member Terms and Conditions are to be read in conjunction with any additional conditions associated with Paper Plus Rewards, including, without limitation, the Website Terms and Conditions and other relevant Paper Plus policies and/or terms and conditions.
47. Any failure or delay by Paper Plus in exercising its rights under these Terms and Conditions does not constitute a waiver of those rights. Any waiver by Paper Plus must be in writing and signed by an authorised officer of Paper Plus.
Your personal information
48. Paper Plus may collect personal information from you to facilitate the operation of Paper Plus Rewards. By becoming a member of Paper Plus Rewards, you agree to the terms of our Privacy Policy and in particular to the collection, use and disclosure by Paper Plus of your personal information as described in that Policy.
49. It is important that your contact details are kept up to date. Please keep your details up to date by logging in to your account on paperplus.co.nz or notifying your local Paper Plus store if your details are incorrect or become out of date. You can also update your details (including your email address) at any time by contacting Paper Plus Customer Support.

50. A Member may terminate their membership in Paper Plus Rewards membership at any time by phoning 0800PAPERPLUS (0800 727 377) or via email to theteam@paperplusrewards.co.nz.
51. The provisions of these Terms shall continue to apply to any person who has terminated their membership of Paper Plus Rewards and upon termination:
- Any accumulated Paper Plus Rewards Points or any issued Rewards will be forfeited to Paper Plus.
- All account data will be fully anonymised removing any identifiable data and details.
