All Our Shimmering Skies is a tight, logical read with depth and beautifully crafted writing. It flows with solid descriptions of convincing characters and contrasting landscapes from dusty old war-time Darwin to lush, vibrant central Australian wilderness. You will love the characters of plucky Molly, dreamer Gretta, Japanese fighter Yukio, defeated-in-spirit Horace, shady-dark Aubrey and trustworthy aboriginal Sam. They all mix to create a heartfelt realistic narrative that builds into a cat and mouse chase through breath-taking wilderness. A truly remarkable, riveting read that I just did not want to let go of after I turned the last page. It is straight to the Top Ten reads for me.

I had no idea what this book was about when I started. I hadn't read the blurb, and I hadn't read anything by Trent Dalton before. So, when I started on this journey with young Molly Hook, I just went wherever she took me, and I can honestly say, it was a beautiful, tragic, enchanting, and haunting journey. I say haunting because, a few days later, I still can't stop thinking about it. It is not an easy read emotionally, it is heartbreaking and heavy in parts, and I cried and got angry and felt all sorts of emotions. But I would read it all over again, I am sold, "All Our Shimmering Skies" is magical.

I loved Boy Swallows Universe and I was very excited by the new one. Second books can be hit and miss but this is a right royal banger. Molly Hook is a character that bent my heart around a pole and squeezed it dry. Fantastic book with echoes of Tim Winton but the voice of Trent Dalton
