Age range 3 to 6 A perfect introduction to the world of fine art which will appeal to children and adults alike. Written and illustrated by one of the UK's favourite children's book creators. Tom visits a very special exhibition where each picture features a cat. One by one, the cats all leap out and follow him, until a very large, scary cat makes them rush back to the safety of their frames. But these aren't just any cats or any pictures! Ruth Brown has created her own unique and amusing masterpieces in the style of twelve well known painters from around the world. Young children will enjoy discovering the pictures with Tom, watching the increasing number of cats following him around, and matching the cats with the pictures. 'Ruth Brown is an amazing illustrator.' - Independent 'The most brilliant fusion of picture and theme.' - T.E.S. 'Bold, beautiful and simple illustrations.' - The Guardian

Sue - Paper Plus Masterton - March 2021

Another fabulous children’s book with vivid illustrations with a focus on teaching young ones about classic artists with a twist. Each cat is teamed together with an artist to educate about the art style. “When Tom visits an art gallery with his granny, he wanders into a side room and discovers a very special exhibition. Renowned picture book creator Ruth Brown has brilliantly imagined her own masterpieces in this playful exploration of the artistic styles of famous painters down the years.” “Vincent – ginger and feral, totally unpredictable, aggressive, watchful, occasionally sociable but happiest out in the fields chasing crows. Or Frida, exotic, Spanish wildcat cross, slightly lame due to a past accident yet independent and full of life. Sometimes temperamental but always affectionate” The cats personify each artist and makes for fun, interesting reading that your younger readers will enjoy. A bit different but certainly engaging.
